The Potty Training Challenge

Well, my daughter is now 22 months and the new baby is coming in February. I am on the quest to get her potty trained by the time the second one arrives. Is it going to happen by then? It’s hard to tell, but I am keeping my fingers crossed!

I feel like she has been ready for the potty since about 18 months, but with me being tied up and her being in the daycare we just couldn’t get the ball rolling. Now she is out of daycare and I have more time to spend on it. We have been taking it slow for about three weeks.

So far she progressed to seating on the potty for a short period of time, but not going yet. She is now wearing the big girl underwear at home with very few accidents. She usually asks to put on a diaper when she has to go. Still, her biggest challenge is going into the potty. We’re yet to see the first time. She is either not comfortable with the concept of going into the potty or not understanding the idea. Though I have been giving her demonstrations since she started walking, and she enjoys flushing the toilet herself. Also we just received “Potty Power” DVD and watched it couple of times.

So here is the scoop for now and I will be updating our progress as we go. Let me know what techniques you used or are using that worked for you.
