IntelliGender Gender Prediction Test Review

I was offered to try this test by my sister-in-law, who works in the corporate office of a large supermarket chain here in Florida. She said that the distributor of this test would like to test this product on public to see how easy it is to do and how accurate it actually is. She referred me as a test subject and I happily agreed, since I didn’t have to pay for it. Currently the test retails for $35 and states 90% accuracy rate. Hey, I’ll try anything once and it sounded like a fun thing to try!

I decided to review this test by discussing each step of the instructions that come with the test kit. So you can decide whether this test is for you!

1. When you wake, please fill the collection cup with your first morning urine when collecting your sample. It is very important to use first morning urine when collecting your sample. Failure to do so will likely result in an incorrect result. Once collected, set the urine sample aside and get the test kit ready for use. Remove the white overcap, exposing the kit’s lid. Remove the white oval tab from the top of the lid, exposing a small hole in the middle. You will need to keep the tab close by as you will replace it over the hole once the urine has been added. You are now ready to perform the test.

Okay, whoever wrote this, more likely has never been pregnant. Excuse me, but like most pregnant women, I happen to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, so usually by the time the morning comes around, there is not much urine left over to collect! So here is my question, can I pee in the cup at 3 or 4 in the morning and do the test once I wake up for good? Or if I can’t do so, can I use the urine that starts collecting in the middle of the night (if I have any left)?

I believe on the morning of doing the test, I had to get up in the middle of the night, but ended up using the fresh urine that collected after that. So I hope that this is still okay.

The rest of the step was easy to follow.

2. Placing the tip of the syringe into the urine, “pull” 20 ml’s of urine (as indicated on the side of the syringe) up into the syringe.

No problems there, the syringe is very clearly marked, so you can’t miss it!

3. Place the tip of the syringe into the hole on the top of the test’s lid and inject your urine.

4. Remove the syringe and immediately replace the white oval tab over the hole. Replace the white overcap.

These two steps were easy to follow, hard to do them wrong.

5. Gently pick up the test kit and swirl rapidly in a circular motion for 10 seconds. Do not shake. Place the activated kit on a white paper plate, paper towel or piece of paper where it can be easily read without disturbing. This will help eliminate any background color when reading the results.

This step was easy to execute, I just had to make sure I didn’t overdo the swirling, like it says “Do not shake.”

6. Read your gender result promptly at 10 minutes. If your urine has turned dark or is a smoky green, you are having a boy! If your urine stays relatively unchanged or turns a deeper yellow or orange, then you are having a girl!

Here is where I got into a pickle. After 10 minutes, I got back and the urine appeared to be of darker color, kind of yellowish green, but it didn’t seem to match any of the shades shown on the kit. The color was lighter than the lightest green, but darker than the darkest yellow. But it still appeared to be more on a darker side, closer to the green shade. Perplexed I kept staring at the bottle to see if anything would change or if I would somehow find a logical answer.

Results after 10 minutes

I had to get back to my family, so I left the sample on the counter. After about one hour I happened to be back in the bathroom and that’s when I saw a clear light yellow liquid in the bottle. All of the dark particles seemed to settle on the bottom. At this point the liquid color clearly matched the color shown on the kit.

Result after 1 hour

So am I definite to say that I am having a girl according to the test? Not really, and here is my reasoning. The directions state to read the result in 10 minutes after swirling. Instead of getting a matching color, I got an in-between color at the 10-minute mark. Though the color matched very well after about 1 hour (maybe it happened earlier), I don’t know whether the result is valid due to it being later than the stated time. I decided to check out Intelligender website’s FAQ’s, but wasn’t able to find the answers I needed to clarify my confusion.

Update:  After doing an official ultrasound, we ended up with a boy!

    Congrats!

You MUST only read the test at 10 minutes. Everyone’s test will be ‘girl’ after a longer time. From the picture, I think that is green enough to be a boy!

    Tonya,
Thanks for clarifying, I’m having a sonogram on October 7 to find out the gender, we’ll see then! Did you do the test yourself? How did your results compare?

Just wanted to say that my results were clearly girl at the 10 minute mark, but then turned green later in the day, even darker by the next day. So no, it doesn’t always stay light as a girl result after time….. I’ve read many times online that you can email the company and they may send you another test to try if your results aren’t clear to you.

I took the test. I did not use the first morning urine. It came out very dark green. It stayed green even after 2 hrs so may be uas s a girl. Am planning of taking it again and using morn urine sine they said even women who r nt pre will test out a boy. Wish u get what u want

I followed the directions exactly when I took the test and my results at 10 minutes were a great match for a Boy. However, my Ultrasound Image Conclusion say girl. (Although the baby didn’t want to uncross its legs, I went in twice for sex identification and the Lady said she has only been wrong once, in 30years.) I am due on Oct. 24th but believe it will be sooner, So I quess we’ll see!

Thanks for letting us know the ultrasound results versus the test result. I guess it is wrong sometimes.
    Good luck on your delivery!!

I’ve taken the test today and it started to turn green at the two minute mark and then ended up yellow/orange at 10 minutes. After an hour it was still yellow.
Have you found out if you’re having a boy or a girl?

Yes, I found out, we’re having a boy!! It’s interesting, after 10 minute mark the color in the test bottle was more green than yellow, but still it was hard to tell.

Admin, congratulations! I took the test today and I got exactly the same color as you did, with clear yellow on the top part and green at the bottom (2 colors at the same time!). I’m almost 12 weeks now. So I guess is likely to be a boy…

I am almost 12wks now & hoping for a girl b/c everyone keeps saying it’s a BOY! This is my first so I am a bit anxious, I dont show yet but I have already had 1 ultrasound & go for another in 2wks to make sure the baby is HEALTHY! I go to see what is the gender at 20wks, so I have about 8wks to go. I am taking the intelligender to see, & to match with the ULTS. 2 of my friends got ultrasounds done, said it was going to be a BOY & they both had girls. So nothing is %100 accurate, it kind of makes me nervous to shop! LUCK TO ALL! & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I took the test and it came out saying it was a boy. I was upset but my husband was so excited. I wanted a girl. However today we had our ultrasound (18 week) and found that we were actually having a girl. I think this product is a waste of money and does not give accurate. Use the chinese calendar it is free online.

I just took the test this morning (11 weeks) and it CLEARLY showed a dark smokey green color – BOY! I have an ultra sound scheduled for Feb 16th so I guess I will find out! :) I also did the free chinese lunar calendar http://www.thelaboroflove.com/chart/cal.html (which was accurate with my first baby girl) and it also says I will be having a boy and I have heard that is 99% accurate – and FREE! I guess I will find out for sure on Feb 16th!!! Either way, it’s fun to test and guess!

Had my u/s today were 2 techs said without a doubt, determined my bubby was a boy, after buying three intelligender tests (at nearly $100 each I live in Australia) at 9.5w 10w and 12w, which all clearly returned a Yellow, girl, result, was very excited as we already have 2 boys, but after the u/s today the techs said bubs is def a boy no questions, must be a scam if three tests are wrong?

I am now 31 weeks pregnant and I took the intelligender at 12 weeks and it was clearly a boy, then when I went for the ultrasound they as well told me it was a boy as well. I was very happy and excited. So i started telling all my friends about the intelligender and it was right for all 3 of them as well. You HAVE to follow the directions exatly. I was very happy with this test and will be using it everytime. But they are right, doctors dont give you ultrasounds to find out the sex, they do it to check on the baby and stuff, the test is only used to find out the gender and why wouldnt it work? Buy it!

I took this test at 15 weeks and it just looked like my urine so girl. I really hope it’s a girl because I already have a girl so I wouldn’t have to buy anything but diapers. I’m now 17 weeks and after reading all these bad reviews I’m so worried they are wrong and it could be a boy. aghh Now I have to wait 3 more long weeks.

i did 2 tests knowing my husband despiratley wanted a boy as we already have 2 girls and decided this is our last.. i purchased 2 tests in AUS at $90 each. Both said boy i was over the moon for my hubby because i knew how excited he would be so i told him the result. at our ultrasound we were told girl my heart sunk because i got his hopes up and i was really confident that surely 2 test wouldnt be wrong.. i am really peeved at these tests for getting our hopes up only to be disappionted. im only grateful we found out they were incorrect at the 20wk u/s and didnt wait for our beautiful baby to be born and feel this way then.

TOTAL SCAM DONT WAISTE YOUR TIME, HOPES AND MONEY ON THIS CRAP!!!!

Took the test at 10 weeks and then at 14 weeks and both gave very dark green boy results. Just went for us at 20 weeks and they said we’re having another girl. It’s fun to do the test just to see, but I definitely wouldn’t pin your hopes on the results because it looks like it’s not accurate for a lot of people.

Thanks for posting this. I am 13 weeks and had almost identical results as yours and got very confused. It’s kind of like a yellowish green or greenish yellow. I called them and the lady said that any shade of yellow is yellow so it’s a girl. But you end up having a boy right? Anyhow, I feel more confused now than before the test…

So I am noticing that a lot of the tests that were wrong came out testing as a boy and the u/s showed a girl (if you shake instead of swirl it will turn green because the particles in there are green).
However I only noticed a couple of posts where people tested as a girl and the u/s showed a boy? Anyone else get this result?
I just did the test this weekend and it showed a girl….I am really hoping it is wrong, as I would love for my 2 yr old son to have a little brother. Thanks for the input…..

    on Mar 3rd, 2010 at 6:27 pm

kk, I was one of the ones that reported a girl result and am definitely having a boy. I even emailed a picture to the intelligender company and they said that they really liked the looks of my test because there wasn’t a lot of sediment on the bottom and asked how I had taken the test (shaking or swirling, etc…which I definitely only swirled). They also said they wished they received more pictures like mine…Well, it is DEFINITELY a boy…so yes, you can absolutely receive a girl result and have a boy. My test gave a light yellow girl result at the time you are supposed to read it…but started turning green a few hours later…. the next day after sitting, it was dark green. I have to admit I had my hopes up that the test was right and wish I hadn’t bothered taking the test because after researching online, it seems that it’s about 50/50 right anyway ;) I’m absolutely THRILLED about meeting our new baby boy soon, don’t get me wrong…We have two sons already and one daughter who I was hoping a sister for :) Anyway, hope that helps and good luck!

Ok so I have taken three tests, one at 10 weeks, one at 11, and one at almost 12. All three have said “girl”. I have also emailed my results to Intelligender and had them confirmed as girl results. Intelligender told me their girl results are slightly more accurate than boy. You really have to follow the directions to a tee and read it at eye level because all three of my tests have had dark sediment at the bottom, but my urine was orange for a “girl” result so if not read at eye level it would appear boy even though in fact it is girl. The intelligender results expert told me the sediment doesn’t matter one bit. Also boy is the result you automatically get if taken too early, after unprotected sex or if you are on progestoren for any reason. So not reading it at eye level or getting a boy result for reasons listed above is why boy is often wrong. Two of my best friends did it and it was right for both of them. One had a boy and the other had a girl, so we will see for me. I will let you know what my u/s says.

    on Mar 10th, 2010 at 3:56 am

Took the test this morning at 8 weeks. Followed the direction to the letter. No sex for 3 days, taking no pills of any kind, (not even vitamin) Did everythign minus the 1st urine in the moring thing. Just had to goto the bathroom around 2am. Can’t keep it all night!

Got confusing results at 6:50 am. Orange/yellow at first 2 minutes, then it turned to dark green from minute 5-10 and then back to yellow and dark sediments after 15 minutes and stayed like that.

So, does that mean I suppose to have a boy? I bought a 2nd test as a backup. Suppose I’ll be using this 2nd test next week.

I’ll update my 2nd result when I take it. When is the earliest we can use u/s to determine gender? Anyone?

  44. #44 Fannie
    on Mar 11th, 2010 at 1:28 am

I just couldn’t wait. And took the 2nd tester I had this morning.

Still can’t get that first urine. Did the test this morning at 6:40 am and after 10 minutes, it turned green (this time it did turn green). All the indications that I’m having a boy.

After 15 minutes it turned back to a lighter color and eventually back to orange.

I’m not sure when I can take a u/s to make this determination, but I’ll update when I can actually confirm with a lab tech about the gender, so I can give closure to my results.

  45. #45 Bonnie
    on Mar 13th, 2010 at 9:33 pm

Whatever it said AT 10 minutes is your result, but if you took them before 10 weeks of pregnancy than the results won’t be accurate. Also, as long as you didn’t drink large amounts after peeing at 2 am that is fine. First morning urine is when you get up, not in the middle of the night as long as you aren’t drinking fluids during the night.

I have used the Chinese Lunar Gender Perdictor 2 times, when I was getting Pregnant, the first time I wanted a girl and I got it, then I wanted a boy and I got it. Stop wasting money on those stupid things. The chinese calander is really great and more accurate then anything out there. I love telling all my friends what they will have with the Calander and I have yet to be wrong :-)

Well, it almost seems as if what ever the test says- bank on it being the opposite! I took it at like at week 14 and it said a boy. I said I wasn’t going to take one because I didn’t want to get my hopes up but in a moment of weekness I plopped down my $35 and went for it. My husband and I really wanted a boy, although as the pregnancy has progressed, I don’t think we care anymore. We have both really fallen in love with the baby and each other all over again. So, I find out next Monday and I will let you all know if it was accurate or not. I would love for it to be accurate however, after reading many of the other posts it seems as though there is a whole lot of pink in my future.

People should read directions. Anyone looking at results past 10 minutes have proven they dont comprehend directions. I have not tried mine yet and tried to gain insight here. I did gain from constructive criticism and not by the angry people typing, “dont waste your money.” Because you DID! So…it may not be for all indeeed, agreed. But just state what happened. Some remarks were crazy, like lady who tended to her family! Her wrong timing and inability to read, should not be a reflection of someone who took the test CORRECTLY. Seems as though many did do it correctly. Gathered much info, from here, and garbage, but thats everywhere :-) Life.

At around 16 weeks I took the intelligender test just for fun… I read the directions about 3 times before performing the test to be sure I was accurately taking the test… and I followed them to “T”….After the 10 minute waiting period my urine had turned a very dark green… clearly indicating that we were having another boy (we didnt have a preference either way.. a little brother for my son would have been great and having a little girl would have been nice also since we do not plan on having more children) Well anyway, a week and a half ago I had my 20 weeks ultrasound and the ultrasound CLEARLY showed that we were having a little GIRL (I even asked the tech to double check haha) so needless to say the intelligender test was not as accurate as I was hoping it would be.. but its was fun either way!

And as for comment number 21,I believe… reguarding the chinese calendar that you can look up online… Believe it or not the calendar has been accurate 4 times so far… (said my sister was having a boy 4 years ago when she had my nephew… she is pregnant again and again it said boy and she is surely having another boy) It was also accurate for my son and in saying that this time around we are having a girl… so who knows!

I just took the test result this morning & it say’s were having a Girl! Although I know this test isn’t 100% accurate but it made my day better :) I already have 2 boys so I think it’s time for a girl. I really hope it’s right. I took an ultrasound test a few days ago and they couldn’t tell the sex because the cord was in the way. :( So I thought hey 80-90% is better than 0%. I won’t be getting another ultrasound that I know of and I am 22 weeks pregnant. I am due August 14th. Good Luck everyone!

I am a second time going to be mom. I already have a boy 3yrs old and i am due on August 23rd. I am now 22 weeks preg, I had my ultrasound and in that they said may be a boy and they gave us the pictures showing boy but those pictures when showed to doc he said he cannot make out and confirm. So we decided to go for this test in my 22week.

I took the test with the morning urine and found that initially the color was very dark green and at around 10 mins completion it became light green and more towards yellow. Taking this test was fun… but i am left confused if it is a girl or boy? Also chinese calender says it should be a girl but not sure about it now.

Also i do not have any more U/S also to confirm me on that. I may be just have to wait until Aug 2010

I tried intelligender at 6 weeks ,then at 10 weeks. It always showed boy and finally at 12 weeks my doctor confirmed it as a baby boy…Wonderful product.

I read bout this test in American baby magazine and became very curious about its level of accuracy. I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant with my first child. I wanted it to be s surpise which totally broke my finacees heart (at first). He is now totally supportive of my decision and we are both very excited of the greatest surprise of our lives. The one thing I would. Like to say after reading your comments and opinions is that nothing is 100%. For those of you who had accurate readings that’s wonderful but there’s seems to be many more women who experienced the opposite. These women shouldn’t be discredited maybe they didn’t follow the directions completely and maybe they did. It sounds like this product isn’t the most user friendly product in the world. The instructions are a bit vague and subjective as well as the ability to easily identify the results. With that said ultrasounds aren’t always accurate either but the results have proven to be more accurate than this test. Lastly the Chinese gender is far from a science. I have it was wrong for more than 15 women that I personally know. I think it more important that our babies are born healthy than for so time, emotions, and money to be spent the least important apart of the experience. Enjoy your blessings ladies.

I’ve just bought this product and are going to use it Wednesday morning before my 13 week u/s. I have 1 son and would love a girl, but reading these reviews, I think I may have wasted my money. Anyway will let you know the result. But obviously wont know for sure until my 18 week u/s.

I just purchased this product on-line today. I should have read the reviews first! Darn! It boasts that it is 80% accurate, so I went for it. Sounds like it is a scam. If this group of women are a sample group, it looks like it is not accurate at all. I will follow the directions perfectly and will make sure I use morning urine… but wish I didn’t waste my money…. I could have spent it elsewhere towards our baby to be.
I’ll keep you posted on the test results and US results. I’m 13 weeks.

    @ Admin

I took the early morning urine test and it gives the result in such a way that at the bottom it is green and on the top its getting fade with yellow-green. Can you tell me what does that mean? iam happy to have both boy or girl but iam looking for a gender so that i do shopping for my baby accordingly :) If you want a picture of the test result i can email you as well. Please send me your email address so that i can send you the test pic for confirmation.

Hi everyone! I have taken three Intelligender tests now. We have two boys and we are now pregnant with our third and final..we want a girl so bad! I took a test at exactly 10 weeks, one at 10 weeks and 5 days and we just took another today, at 17 weeks and 6 days. The first time it came back mostly orange/orange yellow with green specks floating, and Intelligender said it was a “girl result”. The second came back even more orange, more towards the yellow side, almost totally clear. Today..our test came back with the same color yellow/orange with enough green to make Intelligender say it was a “boy result”. What does everyone else say? Any opinions? Our next ultrasound is July 9th, I will 21 weeks and 1 day and it feel like FOREVER from now! :(

By looking at your test, I would have said boy right away. Which leads me to believe that the test results are dependent on the perception of the person reading the results, or in other words, it is not the test that is inaccurate, but the person reading the test.

I just took mine today. Results were less than “clear” so I contacted the company. I was told by a representative that any green in the coloring means boy.

In a nutshell, it is fun, meant for fun only. My only complaint is that the “clear” results as indicated on the box are not so clear. Maybe they can copy Clear Blue Easy and go for the digital Boy/Girl read out:-)

I just took the gender prediction test today. my results came out very dark green. but the chinese prediction calendar says im having a girl and I feel like this one is a girl, despite the results. My hubby really wants a little girl. we already have a boy (Oscar 11mths) and hes gonna be the best older brother! I really want a girl. lol Im only 10.5 w right now and you guys actually make me feel like I have a fighting chance to get a little girl. Ill keep you guys updated. May get dna gender testing done when I go in for Down Syndrome testing. Last time my intellinigender and dna results were correct. But we’ll see….

I realize that this post is probably from some time ago, but I wanted to weigh in with my Intelligender experience. I bought the test under the impression that Intelligender would refund false results…Needless to say, mine was wrong and the Intelligender rep I spoke with was quite condescending in telling me that I was wrong…

Hey I just took the intelligender test and it turned immediatley green within seconds which sucks because I already have 3 boys and was hopn for a girl but then again at the ten min mark I picked up the bottle at eye level and it was yellowish with the green crystals in the middle.right now I’m 10 wks n 2days so I guess ill have to wait n see.
