Make Up Hype

Make up is overrated!  How many make up brands are out there?  I don’t know, probably hundreds.

In my earlier age I experimented with Prescriptives, Clinique, Cover Girl, Lancome, L’Oreal…  Prescriptives, Clinique and Lancome are on the pricier side and are usually found at department stores.  Brands like Cover Girl and L’Oreal are more affordable and are being sold at drug stores.

So what is my conclusion?

The difference between the brands wasn’t significant enough for me to notice.  One thing I liked about shopping for my make up at the department store, is that the lady at the counter helped me pick out the right color palette for my skin tone and showed me how to properly use the product.  Obviously in the process I got to learn about why their product stands out from the rest, why it’s so wonderful, why she would never use anything else… you get the point.  Smart marketing on their part.

But unfortunately you pay accordingly.  Prescriptives’ foundation cost me over $18, where the same size bottle of Cover Girl’s foundation was only $3.50.  I could buy five bottles of Cover Girl’s foundation for the price of one bottle of Prescriptives’.  I decided to stick with the drug store brands.

We, women are under so much pressure to look our best all the time.  The beauty industry is constantly trying to convince us that if we use their particular product, we will be beautiful according to their standards.  Then it comes down to the numbers game of how much we are willing to contribute to the idea.  I bet you even the most skillful fashion expert would not be able to tell what brand of make up one is wearing.  So relax and celebrate your beauty!

Check out my video where I show the products I use while I put them on and the final resut!

Just thought maybe this could be of help, in case someone is concerned with make up safety overall!

You can get almost any type of make up by one get one free if you just watch the adds. This saves tons of money and all it takes is a little planning ahead! My make up is kind of expensive since it is mineral powder but I can typically get 2 for 1!
